Konoba

Restaurant & Bar
Mahé, Seychelles – 2010

I thought of these schools of fish, swimming in water, taking possession of the restaurant and culminating in a whirlwind over the bar.

Konoba, on the island of Mahe in Seychelles, is one of the few places where you meet around a plate of food, a drink or a concert. The inspiration could only come from the aquatic scenery. The ceiling recalls the movement of the waves – the entanglement of wooden beams, the coral reef. Not to mention the centerpiece, a sculptural installation of 8,000 pieces of metal like a school of fish invited to join the guests. It remains only to illuminate everything in order to vary the pleasures, day, night.
